Teach Me, my God and King,
In all things Thee to see,
And that I do in anything,
To do it as for Thee.

A servant with this clause
Makes drugery divine:
Who sweeps a room, as for thy laws,
Makes that and this action fine.
This is the famous stone
That turneth all to gold;
For that which God doth touch and own
Cannot for less be told.

据传说：古时的术士能炼成“升化石”（Elixir），也称为“The philosophers stone”， 能点石成金，又能使人长生不老。诗人以“有名的石头”喻圣徒事奉观念的转变。乔治·赫伯特（George Herbert， 1593—1633），17世纪英国牧师诗人。
